Judder free perfectly synced playback on xbmc

Since there’s a lot of misinformation in the forum about how xorg display modes works, This is the right way.

First of all, modelines are not a the magic solution to all your problems. Modelines are only needed with tv’s that have faulty EDID information. Most TVs provide the correct modes for 29.97/59.94 Hz, but the modes are not used by xrandr by default, so XBMC can’t see that they are available.

speed up ubuntu 10.04 with xbmc

If you wish to speed up your boot times with xbmc, you will need to do the following:

I do have a OCZ Technology SSD Agility which dramatically reduced my boot time. From a cold start i am getting about a 15.2 second boot time.  Most of this however is the EB1051 bios.

LogMon

This program will monitor one or more log files, updating when more data is available ala ‘tail -f’ , within a common terminal window via a “split window”. User can scroll up/down/left/right through all the windows. A header displays each frames file name, and number of lines in the file.

Install Ubuntu 10.04 & XBMC on Asus EeeBox PC EB1501

I have had my Asus EeeBox PC EB1501 for a while now and have been using svn builds of xbmc as I use the pvr branch for watching Satellite TV.  I used to use ubuntu 9.04 but decided to upgrade to 10.04 when I installed my SSD.  My old post can be located on the xbmc wiki. By using ubuntu lucid you can get away now with not doing much to get xbmc working perfectly, so I suggest using 10.04.
